- Gain insights into the Treasure Valley’s growing housing crisis
- Learn about CATCH’s evidence-based solutions and innovative programs
- Hear Skyler’s powerful story—a mother whose life was transformed with CATCH’s support
Skyler’s Journey
Skyler never imagined she would experience homelessness. Despite her strong work ethic, a wrongful eviction on her record made finding housing nearly impossible. When she discovered she was pregnant with her son Jaxtyn while living in her car, the stress became overwhelming.
“I just remember spending my days just sobbing, wishing I could just crawl in bed and just be sad for a few hours, but I couldn’t relax. There’s no relaxing because you always have to figure out where you’re going next.”
Everything changed when Skyler found CATCH. With dedicated case management support, she secured stable housing where she could raise her newborn son. Three years later, Skyler has maintained her housing, earned her CPC certification in medical coding, and is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting while working as an office administrator for California Closets in Nampa.
Skyler’s story challenges common misconceptions about homelessness: “Sometimes just one bad thing happens after another and it’s out of your control. The majority of us are living within paycheck to paycheck range…”
